Secretary for the Environment KS Wong officiated at the launch ceremony for the Carbon Reduction in Hong Kong event at the Open University today.
He delivered a keynote speech, saying Hong Kong should reduce carbon emissions.
He noted that Chief Executive CY Leung announced in this year's Policy Address the establishment of an inter-departmental committee chaired by the Chief Secretary to steer and co-ordinate the Government's climate work.
He said that a large-scale engaging event will be held in July to collect views of the public and stakeholders on combating climate change.
The Government will announce a climate action plan by the end of this year, he added.
