SEE to attend APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting in Peru

​The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, will depart for Lima, Peru, this evening (August 13) to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Ministerial Meeting (EMM).

Mr Tse will attend the APEC EMM on August 15 and 16 (Peru time). During the two-day meeting, energy ministers or their representatives from 20 APEC member economies will discuss topics such as the promotion of energy transition in the region and hydrogen development, including discussions on how to use innovative strategies and technologies to ensure a fair and sustainable energy transition, as well as challenges faced by member economies in formulating and implementing the strategy of hydrogen development.

During his stay in Peru, Mr Tse will have bilateral meetings with representatives from other APEC member economies to exchange views on strengthening co-operation on issues such as energy transition, decarbonisation and hydrogen development.

The Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services, Mr Poon Kwok-ying, and officers from the Environment and Ecology Bureau and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department will also join the visit.

Mr Tse will arrive in Hong Kong on August 19. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Miss Diane Wong, will be the Acting Secretary for Environment and Ecology.
