The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, will depart for Azerbaijan, tomorrow (November 11) to join the Chinese delegation to attend the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
Mr Tse will attend the high-level segment, side events and other activities of the COP29. During his visit to Azerbaijan, Mr Tse will have bilateral meetings with other representatives to introduce the latest strategies and progress of Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050. He will also visit a renewable energy facility there.
The Commissioner for Climate Change, Mr Wong Chuen-fai; the Assistant Director of Hong Kong Observatory (Development, Research and Administration), Ms Sandy Song; and officers from the Environment and Ecology Bureau will also join the visit.
Mr Tse will leave Azerbaijan on November 15 (Azerbaijan time) and arrive in Hong Kong on November 16 (Hong Kong time). During his absence, the Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Miss Diane Wong, will be the Acting Secretary for Environment and Ecology.
