    The Acting Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung and the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lo Wai-chung, visited the Junior Police Call (JPC) Fight Crime Summer Camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village today (August 17).

    The theme of this year’s summer camp was “Be Positive and Cheerful, Fight Crime at a New Perspective”. The officiating guests took the opportunity to encourage JPC members to assist the Police combat crime and instill positive values in their lives at the launching ceremony.

    Mr Lai said that JPC scheme had been committed to promote sound life values among the youth through multi-faceted activities, aiming to equip the young people to be future leaders and fight crime partners.

    A "Climate Change Bookmark Design Competition" was specially introduced this year to raise the youth's awareness of global climate change, encouraging the JPC members to conserve the environment, he added.

    After the ceremony, the officiating guests toured around the camp, visiting the crime prevention booths produced by JPC members of 20 districts and an exhibition on climate change by the Hong Kong Observatory. JPC members of Border District, Central District and Wong Tai Sin District were awarded the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up of the Fight Crime Booth Design Competition respectively.

    Organised by the Police, the annual summer camp aims to enhance JPC members’ awareness of crimes and drug abuse as well as to promote positive values through various activities. To facilitate the JPC members in exploring their future career development, a series of life planning activities will be staged in the summer camp this year. JPC members are given the opportunity to know more about various industries, such as media and catering.

    About 1,400 JPC members took part in this year’s summer camp held from August 16 to 19.
