SEN concludes duty visit in Los Angeles (with photos)

The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, concluded his duty visit in Los Angeles, the United States, today (December 5, Los Angeles time).
In the morning, Mr Wong met with the Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Los Angeles, Mr Matt Petersen, to find out more on the environmental and sustainability initiatives in the city. They also exchanged views on various issues of mutual concern.
Mr Wong then met with the Chief Sustainability and Economic Development Officer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), Ms Nancy Sutley, to exchange views on the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy. After the meeting, Mr Wong visited the La Kretz Innovation Campus, a new clean technology (cleantech) industry hub owned by the LADWP to promote and support the development of cleantech and a green economy in Los Angeles.
After joining a luncheon with the board members of the Hong Kong Association of Southern California and the Hong Kong Schools Alumni Federation, Mr Wong paid a courtesy call on the Consul-General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles, Mr Liu Jian.
In the afternoon, Mr Wong visited the Los Angeles Environmental Learning Center (ELC) located at the Hyperion water reclamation plant to understand more about the sustainable water and solid resources management in the city. The ELC, one of the green facilities of the Los Angeles government, has incorporated various sustainable building elements in its design and has been designated by the US Green Building Council as LEED Gold.
Mr Wong will arrive in Hong Kong in the morning on December 7 (Wednesday).
